Like everyone, I got a bit of a taste for sourdough in the pandemic days and it's become a bit of a hobby. I wanted a kit which had a proper banneton to allow for those classic lines to form, and this does that beautifully.The tools work well (just be careful with the Lame!) and have produced some wonderful bread - not quite up to the standard of a bakery, but not too far off!10/10 - would be lovely as a gift too!

Being new to sourdough making I thought I’d give this a try. The set comes with a great basket for bread proofing and all the tools you need. The basket comes with cloth clover which is elasticated round the edge. The set comes with a steel and plastic dough scraper or cutter and a nice silicone brush. The scoring lame has 5 razor blades which are extremely sharp and will take me a bit of getting used to, but they do come with a case to keep them in. I would have liked a set of instructions with the kit as it says it is a starter kit, and for me being a beginner it would have really helped to have a recipe to follow to begin with, but there’s always the internet.

The set is as described by the seller and is a joy to use. The proofing basket adds a rustic design to my sourdough loaves and provided I have dusted it well with flour, it doesn’t need much cleaning. It just feels more authentic and traditional to bake with this rattan proofing basket than a silicone one and I’m sure it tastes better as a result. For the price of £14.99, at the time of this review, this makes a lovely gift and I am happy to use and recommend it. 5 stars.
